Problem Note 51142: Monthly variances might be incorrect even though weekly variances are correct
In SASĀ® Merchandise Assortment Planning reports, monthly variances might be incorrect even though weekly variances are correct. For example, if you have Jan 2013 (WK1 to WK4) and Feb 2013 (WK5 to WK9) and use the skip53week property, a week for LY (2012) is shifted. This means that for JAN 2013, WK1 is going to match with JAN 2012 WK2, and so on. FEB WK5 2012 is going to be JAN WK4 2013, and the month JAN 2013 should also get the same value. The last week EOP is the same as the month value. The monthly variances are incorrect because the data is incorrect for the month level.
This issue occurs when metadata has a VARDV or DVVAL calc using a DV, for example LY, and that DV is not referenced on the worksheet. When the DV is loaded, it is based on the metadata calculation when the worksheet is opened. It does not roll EOP/BOP for that DV, which results in incorrect values.
The workaround for this issue is to use the LY data version on the worksheet. When DV is referenced in the worksheet, EOP/BOP at the higher levels are referenced for DV and VARDV, which results in correct values.
